Flower Bouquets Toxic For Your Health

Did you know that ALL flowers, plants and bouquets that you purchase from local and national florist are toxic for your health as well as detrimental to the survival of all pollinators…unless, they are USDA Certified Organic Or Biodynamic Certified.

Who would want to give someone they loved a bouquet of toxic roses or lilies?

Not a nice way to say “I love you mom.” Read more on cut flowers and pesticide exposure here. And children exposure stats on the World Health Organization here.

Instead, search for the USDA Certified Organic and/or the Biodynamic Certified bouquets, plants and flowers as gifts to the special woman in your life.

Just because a local flower farm, florist or other health food chain, sell flowers for mothers day, DOES NOT mean that the flowers were grown without the use of toxic, cancer causing pesticides.

There are several local and national flower shops with tricky names that imply they are earth or even bee friendly, when they are loaded with 50 X times the amount of pesticides that big Ag uses to grow GMO crops. These pesticides are not washed off before sold to flower shops.

There is a growing trend of local and international flower shops who are creating Eco friendly flower arrangements and gifts. Most use local plants in their arrangements and base their designs off of seasonal stock instead of shipping toxic flowers from across the globe. Look into the Slow Flower movement to learn more.

You can do better this year for dear old mom! Buy certified ORGANIC treats, flowers and gifts to really show your love for all she has done for you over the years.

You must look for the USDA Certified Organic seal to know that the flowers you give Mom or the mother of your children, are indeed free from toxic chemicals that will emit carcinogens. These toxins release into the air of your home or office.

I have put together local and national resources to buy flowers for Mom this year and for years to come… Note, not all sell only certified organic. So look for the logo and ask them for only organic flowers and plants.

Have a lovely weekend and thank you for all you do to make our community a better place to call home.

SPRING WELCOMES OUR DAYDREAMS AND LONGINGS TO BEE OUTSIDE IN THE BLOSSOMING LANDSCAPE. TREES BUDDING WITH POLLEN, FRAGRANCE AND COLOR, INSPIRE A WARM FEELING OF LOVE FOR ALL LIFE.

The warm, teasing’s of what Summer will bring (hopefully sooner than later) remind me of my childhood days, playing in the forests of Eastern Tennessee, running through the woods with friends, chasing God knows what till dinner time…still, to this day, fills my heart with joy.

Growing up with nature as our play station, imbued us with a subconscious love and respect for the land we called home. Dirt, rocks, leaf, trees, poison ivy, fish, whirlpools, sun showers, mud puddles, tad poles, dragonflies, lightning bugs…what a magical way to play as a child. A direct revelation of the world we will learn to survive in. spring time

Somehow, I feel our children today have been ripped off. Swindled out of that short window of opportunity to build immune systems with the rich soil of the earth in their eyes, ears and mouth…the burning pain of bee stings that strengthen their connection with all the bacteria that make up 90% of their bodies. Or to experience the thrill of building own own fort, in a toad infested swamp, and all the challenges that build their confidence and character as adults. Learn beekeeping here.
